Written for FIST: JAM OPS II - MAD SCIENCE

"The 1980s. The mine that supplied the uranium for the Manhattan Project and the Nazi nuclear experiments, theoretically sealed and abandoned since the 60s, has been reopened. The West wants to reseal it. The Soviets want to control it. But the unseen leader who has unified the miners has his own plans – plans which promise to redefine Mutually Assured Destruction.

Deep in a United Nations mercenary exclusion zone, FIST's decisions may spell their own destruction or change the very nature of war..."

In an exploration of the mad poli-science of Mutually Assured Destruction, blue collar indigenous workers who have lived under the boot of foreign colonization for a hundred years discover a prototype device left behind by a mad Third Reich scientist.  They suddenly have it in their power to enter the world stage as a near-peer to the US and USSR in terms of sheer destructive power and chose to make a clear demand : The end of war and human subjugation, everywhere.

Will FIST choose the nonproliferation of doomsday technology?  Or peace, enforced with a gun to the head of the entire world? And do they have what it takes to make their choice stick?

New tested-yet-experimental rules that provide prolonged INFIL / EXFIL adventure and that manage temporary support personnel are included in the download.

CW : The murderous apathy of nature, decent people with reasonable convictions trying to kill each other, colonialism, the costs of ending colonialism, the apocalypse (potentially), mass murder, morally difficult choices, implied cancer, cross-referenced historical atrocities, the usual.

I loved this scenario and it's one I fully plan to milk when I finally introduce my players group to FIST.  I especially like that while still being FIST - SO, MAKE BELIEVE GI JOE FOR GROWN UPS - it has a social conscience that allows the players to go at length with their escapist Jingoism or do something else.

Good job. ESBurrito!

An extensively detailed scenario with great Referee resources for tracking resources and movement (e.g., travel timeline, hex maps), tables for generating random encounters, and options to extend the scenario further depending on player choice during the game. I really loved the named NPC section with quotes from each person on major players and/or topics likely to come up during the mission (e.g., jungle, UN, US, USSR, local legends).

The scenario itself is well researched and includes nuance (something I particularly enjoy in my games) with no “right option” for the players to choose; some of the NPCs make bad choices but they’re not inherently bad people.

It’s not the kind of scenario you could run through a second time with the same group of characters, but there are many ways the scenario could be replayed by different characters to generate very different outcomes.

Thank you for your review and the kind words! While the scenario is largely inspired by real world events, I tried my hardest to make the factions represented all blatantly correct in their analysis of the situation within their spheres of concern and knowledge, irresolvable in their conclusions, and unavoidably, permanently invested enough to justify the guns coming out.

Even cheating by using a historic model, that's the thing I'm probably proudest of in this entry. Not the new rules for travel or minions, but just how reasonable everyone is while trying to kill each other.
